Randan is committed to amplifying diverse voices, nurturing auteur visions, and pushing creative boundaries while sharing Scotland on the global stage.
Randan is a new production company formed by MTP and Bombito Productions. MTP is a BAFTA-winning commercial company founded by Simon Mallinson with James Heath as Executive Producer. Bombito Productions, which primarily focuses on stories from an LGBTQIA+ perspective, was founded by BAFTA-nominated Producer and Rising Star Scotland 2022, Reece Cargan.
As a shared vehicle between producers Reece Cargan and James Heath we develop, produce and distribute content with a global reach. We support emerging and established talent in Scotland and beyond, both in front of and behind the camera.
Randan tells intersectional stories through a contemporary lens, showcasing the best of what UK voices have to offer regionally and globally.
We focus on first and second features from emerging writers and directors and co-produce projects with established directors.
Randan launched at this year's Cannes Film Festival, shortly after the BFI’s highly selective Global Screen Fund announced that the merger between MTP and Bombito Productions would be one of its few recipients.

Meet the Team

Reece Cargan
PRODUCER
Reece Cargan founded Bombito in 2017 with the aim to tell LGBTQ stories with real characters and has an interest in stories that feature them, as well as stories that are written, or directed, by people from the queer community.
In 2022, Bombito won a Royal Television Society award and Reece was selected by Screen International as a 'Rising Star Scotland'. That same year, Bombito was the only UK production company invited to attend the EAVE Producers lab with the project 'A Good Spell'.

James Heath
PRODUCER
James Heath is a BAFTA-nominated producer of feature film The Fitzroy (SXSW award-winning), written and directed by Andrew Harmer ‘The Fitzroy’. He is also a proud alumnus of Berlinale, Rotterdam labs and EAVE producers’ workshop.
He joined MTP as an Exec in 2019, taking over the day-to-day running of the company with a focus on developing a slate of original projects, championing auteur-led directors and original voices.

Lauren Piskothy is a Development and Production Assistant at Randan, from the USA.
Lauren is neurodiverse and passionate about championing writers from diverse backgrounds.

Vaishnavi Ramu (Vai) is a Development and Production Assistant at Randan.
Hailing from the Scottish Borders, Vai is passionate about telling diverse stories that represent Scotland today.

Simon Mallinson
CHAIRMAN
Simon founded MTP - Mallinson Television Productions in 1998, a high-end commercial production company in Scotland. Over the years MTP has produced ads for Cadbury, Tennant’s Lager, EE, Scot Gov and more. In 2012 Simon received the Drum Award for his outstanding contribution to the Industry.
Simon has also diversified into filmmaking, with the BAFTA-award-winning feature, ‘Hector’ starring Peter Mullen, which recently made Telegraph’s list of the Top 50 Christmas movies of all time.
