IDFA Forum is a long-established element of the festival, catered to projects in all stages of production seeking co-financing, collaboration, and/or distribution. It’s also an opportunity to present the project, discuss potential partnerships, and receive tailor-made feedback from a group of potential financiers matched with the project.

Producer Reece Cargan and Director Bircan Birol will have ten minutes to present the project to an audience of industry representatives and financiers along with other industry observers. After the pitch they’ll get to meet with interested industry representatives during one-on-one meetings.

The IDFA Pitch Forum is incredibly competitive with Your Honour being one of the 20 projects selected to pitch out of the 820 projects that applied.

Your Honour follows Trans law student Efruz lives under constant threat to her safety and well-being in today's authoritarian Turkey. Her friend Bircan films Efruz over the years as her dream of becoming a human rights lawyer is challenged more than ever, and where the two friends find hope from the past, in friendship and resistance infused with laughter. Directed by Bircan Birol, this feature documentary is in development with Screen Scotland.

Bircan is currently on the Sheffield Doc Fest 2024 Queer Realities Director’s Lab, a development programme for directors developing a queer-focused documentary project. The 10 selected directors will get to explore and experiment with the documentary format through specially curated workshops and masterclasses with UK and international artists, filmmakers, and other industry experts.

Reece Cargan also took Your Honour to Eurodoc’s Lab for Creative Documentary Production.
