With a delicious candy-coloured palette and 90s aesthetic, Just Jackie is a queer, quirky, bubblegum pop fantasy about friendship and self-acceptance for anyone who’s ever used their toothbrush as a microphone.

    Twelve-year-old, Abby is grappling to be at the centre of her father’s gaze. Believing they will spend the day together, she agrees to help him sell frozen microwave meals. But when they arrive at the pub, she’s instead asked to stay outside and look after Sandy, the daughter of her father’s potential new girlfriend. As the day progresses, Abby’s insecurities and feelings of neglect are inflamed, leading to a heated eruption of aggression that Sandy falls victim to.
