Producer Reece Cargan to join UK producer delegation to welcome producers from the Netherlands

We are excited to share that Randan Producer Reece Cargan will be in London from Dec 9th - 12th to witness the historic signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Netherlands and UK, and will be speaking on a few panels. The signing of an MOU is an important step in Randan’s commitment to collaborate with international partners.

The goal of the Memorandum is to foster easier collaboration between the UK and The Netherlands. It will also intensify the commitment for both nations to collaborate and promote the exploration of new, innovative opportunities to support the production of film and high-end TV in both regions.

Randan x The Netherlands

This historic signing is significant given Randan’s consistent collaboration with the Netherlands. Two of Randan’s theatrical releases in 2025 include two Netherlands co-productions:

The feature documentary, “Where Dragons Live” by Suzanne Raes was a co-production with Docmakers Amsterdam. The film premiered at Sheffield Doc Fest and was recently screened in competition at IDFA 2024. The UK release details will be announced soon.

Midwinter Break by Polly Findlay is currently in post-production. This project was co-produced via Guy Heeley at Shoebox Films (UK), Floor Onrust from Family Affair and funded by Netherlands Film Fund, Screen Scotland and supported by Focus Features, Film 4 & Protagonist. The film is based on the novel by celebrated Glasgow-based, Northern Irish author Bernard MacLaverty and stars Lesley Manville and Ciarán Hinds.

In addition, the Randan feature currently in late-stage development, “Boifriend” the first feature by Dutch-born, Glasgow-based writer-director Jack Goessens has received support from Screen Scotland and will be a Dutch co-production.

The feature documentary, “Your Honour” by Bircan Birol was also featured at the 2024 IDFA (International Documentary Festival Amsterdam) Forum, with “Love Letters” by Daniel Cook participating in the 2024 IDFA Academy.

Panelling

While in London, Reece will also be participating in a very exciting line-up of panels, hosted by the British Film Commission and BFI Global Screen Fund on the 10th and 12th and meeting with partners on Randan projects on the 11th.

The first panel is presented by the British Film Commission and Netherlands Film Commission and is all about the Netherlands and UK Co-Production and Creative Collaboration.

During this FOCUS London panel, the producers will discuss the creative, cultural and financial benefits of Netherlands and UK partnerships, along with the significance of the signing of the MOU between the two countries.

The panel will take place December 10th at 2 p.m. and feature producers Floor Onrust (Occupied City, Midwinter Break) and Anna Tenser Smith (Executive Producer, Sir Steve McQueen’s new feature film Blitz, and Producer of documentary features Skadow Scholars and Occupied City). The panel will be moderated by Adrian Wootton OBE, Chief Executive of the British Film Commission.

The second panel will be a part of the BFI UK Global Screen Fund Summit on December 12th at 3:15 p.m. Reece will speak on New Perspectives of the industry. This panel will spotlight rising stars supported by the UK Global Screen Fund who are not only breaking into the international marketplace, but also reshaping how stories are told, shared, and consumed across cultures and mediums.
