Reece Cargan and James Heath to Attend Nordisk Panorama

Randan producers James Heath and Reece Cargan will attend the 2024 Forum at Nordisk Panorama as a part of the Scottish delegation. Nordisk Panorama Film Festival is an annual film festival for short and feature documentary films in Malmö, Sweden.

Selection and attendance at Nordisk have been organised and made possible by the Scottish Documentary Institute & Screen Scotland. Reece and James will also be looking for Nordic projects to co-produce through Randan.

While in Malmö, Reece will be pitching ‘Boihood’ by writer/director Jack Goessens at the official Short Film Pitch. ‘Boihood’ is a short film supported by The Uncertain Kingdom and winner of the 2024 Belief Grant. The short is also to be produced with Rosanagh Griffiths of Spinster.

James and Reece will also attend the feature forum and discuss Randan's first feature documentaries by emerging Scottish and Scotland-based talent:

‘Your Honour’ by Bircan Birol, ‘Don’t Say Gay’ by Sarah Elizabeth Drummond, ‘Love Letters’ by Daniel Cook, as well as ‘Miss American Pie’ by Maximilien Dejoie, and the short doc, ‘Keith’ by Steven Fraser.

Boihood

Boihood follows a trans man, who worries his dementia-suffering dad won’t recognise him. As a result, he goes on a surrealist journey through his past to create a memory box for his father.

Your Honour

Your Honour is a documentary in development with Screen Scotland. The documentary follows trans law student Efruz who lives under constant threat to her safety and well-being in today's authoritarian Turkey. Her friend Bircan, films Efruz over the years as her dream of becoming a human rights lawyer is challenged more than ever. The two friends find hope from the past, in friendship and resistance infused with laughter.

Don’t Say Gay

Don’t Say Gay tells the story of the rapid unravelling of progressive LGBTQ+ rights in 1980s Britain and the introduction of the homophobic law, Section 28 where gay people were erased.

Love Letters

Love Letters is a documentary in development with Screen Scotland and BFI Doc Society. Love Letters is a portrait of people living on the fringes of the North East Coast, each taking time to reflect on relationships and the importance of community in hard times.

Miss American Pie

Miss American Pie follows Katelyn, an American woman on a quest for identity, as she flees the Rock n’ Roll lifestyle she’s become accustomed to and returns to the small town in Massachusetts where she grew up.

Keith

In Keith, a BFI Doc Society’s Made of Truth Fund-funded short documentary by writer, director, and animator Steven Fraser, different forms of communication are explored when a filmmaker attempts to find the name of a dead person they discovered behind their flat in Glasgow.
